An email list serve, a/k/a email list, has been established for persons who would like to communicate with others regarding biotinidase deficiency. Here are the answers to some commonly asked questions about the BTD list serve.

This list serve is for families of a children with BTD, individuals with BTD, professionals involved in BTD detection & treatment and any persons, whether public or professional, that is interest in BTD.

The purpose of this list is to provide a forum for communication for BTD. Because BTD is a rare disorder, the people affected by BTD are scattered all over the world and it is sometimes difficult for them to connect. The intentions of this list service is to bring these people closer together.

The purpose of the list is to share experiences in detecting, managing and living with BTD. This list is a forum for BTD families and affected individuals to share information, advice and experiences about BTD.

This list is not intended to be a source of medical information or advice and should not be used as a substitute for the medical care and advice of your doctor.

A list serve is an emailing list; a unique service that handles numerous mailings to specific individuals. When members of the list send a message to the list serve, it goes to all other members in the group.

If a member wants to reply to a message and it to go only to the person that posted the message, they can do this by selecting the "reply" only button in their email management program. If a member would like for a reply to go to the entire list serve, they can do this by selecting the "Reply to All" button.

If you would like to become a member of the BTD List Serve, the first step is to sign up. There is no cost, and there are no "strings attached." All you need to do is subscribe. You will then receive email messages through the list serve and you are free to respond to them with your comments or ideas, or just sit back and learn from the exchange. What Are The Rules of the List Serve?

In an effort to facilitate communication, members are asked to observe the rules and procedures listed below. Any list serve member who does not abide by one or more rules is subject to being removed permanently from the list serve:

The BTD List Serve is open to anyone who chooses to join.

All members must abide by the following rules of etiquette:

1. Please do not post messages to the list serve to be removed from the list serve. You will be responsible for removing yourself from the list serve. If you need help of any kind with the lists you can email a description of your problem to Teri.

2. Please sign your Name, City, State, Country and Relationship to BTD to all of your e-mail postings to the list serve. Here is an example:
   
   John and Jane Doe
   Parents to Jack, Age 3, BTD
   Any Town, Any State USA

3. Please refrain from sending file attachments, using different fonts, and using all capital (upper case) letters.

4. Discussions not related to BTD are not allowed on the list serve. Commercial advertising and chain letters (jokes, poems, unrelated stories letters, etc.) of any sort are not allowed on the List Serve.  All emails to the list serve MUST pertain to BTD.

5. The BTD List Serve is not moderated. All messages that are sent are passed on to every member of the List Serve. Please use your own judgment about the contents, since e-mail content may include opinions and beliefs, not necessarily facts (even though they may be stated as facts).

6. Personal attacks or the use of profanity to the list serve is prohibited and will be grounds for immediate and permanent removal from the list serve. Rude or hostile verbal attacks will not be tolerated. Please be respect to all members of the list serve. Anyone who engages in personal attacks or uses profanity is subject to immediate removal from the group.
